I've Been Inspired

I have recently been inspired to try to live and parent in a more minimal, natural way. The source of this inspiration comes from my son’s daycare, where they have incorporated nature into their play not only outdoors but indoors. I am always interested in learning new ways to encourage my kids to want to learn, so I did some research. I looked into Child-led play, loose parts and such. There are so many benefits for children; calming neutral colors, using their imagination to create things and learn new about things. These kinds of things scare me a little bit because I like things organized and done the “right” way, like when it comes to things like games and crafts. In certain situations I tend to be a bit of a perfectionist, however I am looking forward to challenging myself to let go and allow my children, as well as myself to have fun and create memories. When I think about it, looking back to when I was little, I don’t remember much about new toys or shows. My fond mem...

If you couldn’t tell by the picture below my our new pet is a hedgehog! Her name is Trixie and she just turned 3 on March 3rd 2018. We got her on the 15th of January 2018 from someone who had previously bred her. I have always loved hedgies and have wanted one for some time now but there never seemed to be any to adopt near where we live. So we were happy to find one right in our town. Trixie is super sweet, and the kids absolutely love her. She is pretty low maintenance and doesn't make much noise. She eats just a regular hedgehog food and isn’t usually interested in fruits and veggies, etc. She has a fairly large cage that I keep on top of a bookcase in my basement living room area. Trixie’s first night with us I didn’t have a cage yet so I kept her in a plastic tote, with no over of course. My cat woke me up in the night meowing really loudly outside my room but that isn’t uncommon for him so I went back to sleep. When I woke up in the morning I went to check on Trixie a...

Introducing Little B

-Newborn Lucas, One Day Old- This handsome little boy made his grand entrance into this world the very end of May 2017. He was born perfectly healthy, weighing in at 7lbs 13oz. My labor and delivery were fairly quick and all went smoothly. I had the most wonderful nurse that I will never forget, she went above and beyond for me. My hospital stay was short and a tad lonely with no visitors, so it was nice to get home quickly. I missed my two little kiddos at home. Chloe and Logan were so excited to meet their baby brother. I did end up finding out the gender before birth, and choosing a name was so hard. I couldn’t decide on any, Chloe was the one who ended picking the name in the end.  I wasn’t sure at first where I am not a big fan of the nickname Luke, but I warmed up to the name and Lucas became a better fit than I could have imagined. His nickname name is B, it all started because Logan BB for baby. The whole family started to just say B to Logan when referring to Luca...
