Starting Solids

Logan is now a little over 5 months old, so I have been thinking about when to start him on baby food. I remembered reading like a checklist of thing you baby is doing which might mean they are ready for solids when Chloe was a baby. So I googled it to see if I could find it. A checked a few websites, most of them said the same thing, here's what I found:

can sit up with support
can hold head up straight when sitting
is a ble to turn head toward or away from food
seems to be interested in food when others are eating
opens mouth when offered a spoon
seems as though baby eats a lot more often/not satisfied with just liquids
tries to grab at utensils when someone else is eating

These seven things were just the main ones that I found on multiple websites that I checked out, these are mostly all true with Logan so I decided that I am going to try to start solids with him and see if he is interested. Chloe was about 5 and a half months of when she started. When I'm holding Logan while eating he opens his mouth when I take a bite and tries to get my utensils. Plus he can sit supported with holding his head straight and can turn his head.

When Chloe started on solids I either made her baby food or bought the organic, which it what I plan to do with Logan as well. Though I'm going to try to make most of it. Now that I know I want to try Logan on solids this weekend I'm deciding what I want his first foods to be. Chloe's first foods were avacdo and rice cereal. There are a few foods that I read that are recommended to be baby's first foods.

- Banana
- Green Beans
- Sweet Potatoes
- Peas
- Squash
- Carrots
- Apple
- Pear
- Avacodo

Chloe had all of these except for beans, bananas and pear. I haven't decided yet which I'm going to give Logan first. I know that I'm probably going to make his food myself though. I found some good recipes and I plan on sharing them to so I can let you guys know how they turn out and so you can try them too!
