A-Haunting We Will Go!

Image
First off, Happy Halloween! I can't believe that it's the end of October all ready, I've been so excited all month for today! I hope everyone has fun dressing up, and trick or treating! I know Chloe is definitely excited for getting candy, she loves her costume. I've got just a couple of tips and things to remember for Halloween tonight, here it is- Remember to light your jack-o-lanterns once it gets dark and turn your outside lights on. Also remember to get whatever you are handing out to the trick or treaters ready and close to the door. Don't forget to take a picture of your kids or pets or friends all dressed up in your costumes! Before you leave to go trick or treating put glow sticks or something that is bright and lights up on so you can be easily seen. Be careful crossing the street and watch for cars. I also recommend taking a grocery bag with you so that your kids can lighten their load of candy if it starts to get heavy for the, especially little ones. La...

Fang-tastic Halloween Surprise!

Image
One more day until Halloween! Are you as excited as I am!? Today I picked up Logan a super cute costume and I can't wait for him to wear it. I also got myself part of a costume for school tomorrow, I'm going to be a flapper. I think Chloe is excited to dress up but I don't think she really understands Halloween other wise but I'm sure she will enjoy it! Since Halloween things started to make their appearance in stores this year I started picking up a couple things for both Chloe and Logan for a Halloween gift. This is something my mom always did for me when I was little, nothing crazy just a couple little things and a card. So anyways I decided to do this up for the kids, I figured Chloe would like it and Logan is still too young to understand but Chloe would enjoy helping him open up his surprise. I  brainstormed lots of ideas, here's what I decided on: On the left is Chloe's and on the right is Logan's, the top two pictures are their Halloween trick or tre...

Halloween Checklist

So with Halloween being just 5 days away now, here's my little Halloween checklist! First off, •decide on a costume  and have a back up plan if the weather is bad. Some of you may not have this problem but where I'm from the weather is usually not so nice on Halloween night. Most you either have a warm coat or a raincoat over your costume, so figure of it you can incorporate it into your costume some how if weather is going to be an issue or maybe make/buy your costume a little bit to fit over your warm clothes. Next thing to do after deciding on a costume is to  •pick-up/make/order your costume. If you are ordering online I recommend sooner rather then later, that way if sizing is off or you changed your mind there is still plenty of time to return it and order again if you choose to. (I should have posted this at the beginning of the month rather then the almost end so that tip doesn't really apply to now but if you didn't do so for this Halloween you can always remem...

Chloe's Little Pumpkin

Image
This Halloween will be Chloe's third one, her very first Halloween she was only a month old. I carved her a little pumpkin with a C. A lot was going on around this time last year, so we did carve a pumpkin but I don't believe Chloe got a picture with it. This year Chloe and I carved a pumpkin together. Her first time actually getting to help me. At first she was having a lot of fun, she was excited..until I got the top off. Apparently she takes after my brother and was totally grossed out by the inside of the pumpkin. s he refused to touch it, or go near it for that matter!  In the end we decided on a pretty standard pumpkin face. We still have Logan's pumpkin to carve and that will be the first so far, it's still possible that she will come around to actually touching the inside. I wouldn't be surprised if she doesn't though, most of my family won't carve pumpkins because they refuse to touch the guts inside the pumpkin haha. That's like my favorite par...

Spooky Snacks

Image
I've seen so many cute Halloween snack ideas on Pinterest for kids and adults, here are a few that I found. First is the "nana boo" as Chloe calls it, I cut a banana in half and used chocolate chips to make the ghost face. Chloe loves them, I wanted to used the small chocolate chips but I didn't have any so I used the regular size ones.  Next is another snack that Chloe absolutely loved! I used a circle cookie cutter to cut her peanut butter sandwich to be the body of the spider. Them I used pretzel sticks for the legs. I was going to put eyes on the spider but I decided not to, she really liked it.  This next one I think is my favorite of the four, all you need is mini marshmallows, icing, red food coloring and cookies. I used soft chips ahoy cookies ( in the red package) and I cut them in half. I mixed the food coloring and icing to make it red and spread it on the cookie halves. I lined up four mini marshmallows along the rounded part of the cookie and one in the b...

Halloween Foot Art

Image
So last year my mom surprised my with Chloe's feet print that looked like a ghost, it was super cute! She used a canvas about the size of a piece of paper and painted it purple so the whit of the ghosts would show up good. Heres a picture of it! By the looks of her toes she wasn't overly cooperative haha, and don't mind the couple little scratches, it wasn't stored in Chloe's closet as well as I though it was. This year I wanted to try it again so I searched through Pinterest to find a cute idea. Originally I was going to do Chloe's foot as a witch but I ended up not having enough room for the hat to I did Frankenstein instead. Logan's foot I though would look cute as a candy corn. I decided for this year I would use a smaller canvas. They are flat, the brand is artists loft and I got them from Michaels. Here's how they turned out :)  I'd love to see what other ideas that you have tried with your little ones! It will give me some ideas for next Hallo...

Chloe's Halloween Treats

Image
Entering the middle of October I decided that it was time to pick up what ever it is that I will be giving to the trick or treaters that come to the door on Halloween. When I was little my mom would let me help her make up little treat bags to give out. After a few years it got a little expensive because there were about 200 kids that would come to the door on Halloween so we started handing out little bags of chips. In the past couple years we have only gotten about 70 or so this year I though Chloe would have fun help putting together little candy bags.  Since Halloween candy started coming out this year in September I kept an eye on deals and picked up candy when it was the cheapest, I went with Walmart and Sobeys (grocery store) to get the Halloween candy that I needed for the treat bags.  I just used no name brand sandwich bags to put the candy in, I think we made up about 50 bags roughly. We put 5 or 6 things in each bag, some of the bags are different but they all have ...

Halloween Movie Night

Halloween has to be one of my favourite occasions, I can't wait to see all the Halloween themed movies to be on TV. Which I imagine will be soon, I hope! I'm already to snuggle up with my little cuddle bugs, Chloe and Logan in my bed to watch some movies. All while growing up, on Friday and Saturday nights my mom and I would curl up in her bed to watch Halloween movies the first weekend in October. I loved all those family channel originals, I still watch then when I get the chance! Here is a short list of my favourite Halloween movies that I won't be missing this October:  •Halloweentown Series (Halloweentown, Halloweentown 2, Halloweentown High, Return to Halloweentown) •Nightmare Before Christmas •Hocus Pocus •The Addams Family •Frankenweenie •Coraline •Beetlejuice •Corpe Bride •Monster Inc •Monsters University  •Twithces •Twitches Too •Hotel Transylvania  •Hotel Transylvania 2 •Harry Potter •Monster House •The Great Pumpkin •Don't Look Under the Bed •Pooh's Heff...
