Chloe's Big Sister Kit

In preparation for Logan's birth I decided that I would make Chloe up a little present so she wouldn't feel left out or anything like that. I started it pretty early in my pregnancy and made a little list and over time I picked things up to add to it. Here were the things i included: -A Backpack -I picked up this cute skip hop backpack a while back so I decided to use it for this -New Sibling Book -I choose a little critters book -Snacks -This one I imagine is obvious, for her to eat haha  -Cup for Snacks -I got a little skip hop ball snack cup for her to keep her snacks in -Baby Doll -I gave her doll to her a couple weeks before Logan was born, at about 35 weeks in hopes of getting her used to the idea of a new baby coming soon -Big Sister Shirt -Surprisingly inhat trouble finding one, I ended up with a long sleep short from carters -Lip Smackers -Chloe loves stealing mine so I thought maybe she would like her own -Play Doh -To keep her occupied while her and my mom visited me...

Hospital Bag Essentials

Here's a list of everything I took to the hospital when I had Logan, for the most part it's the same as what I took with Chloe. There are only a few differences, plus I too too much for Chloe to the hospital and ended up not needing most.  Diaper Bag •Diapers  -I read to take 2-3 dozen where the hospital doesn't supply them, I took 2 dozen. •Wipes -I just took a regular size pack of wipes, again the hospital didn't supply these so I had to bring my own. •Warm Blanket  -I believe i took two, one was a little heavier then the recieving blankets for in the hospital, then I also took a fluffy blanket for going home. To put over him in the car seat. •2 Recieving Blankets  -I think I may have ended up only taking one, I can't remember. I did get one from the hospital as well. •Swaddling Blanket  -I took one of those muslin blankets, which I love! I used this lots. •2-3 Sleepers  -I took 3 sleepers, one of which ended up being the coming home outfit. •Hat -O...

Logan's Gender Reveal/ 3D miracles

Image
January 19th I went to 3D miracles, it was the most amazing experience! Going by my last menstural period I was 19 weeks exactly. 10:30 that morning my boyfriend (at the time) picked me up so we could head off the city, which is an hour drive from where we live. We weren't very familiar with driving in the city so we left a little early just in case we got lost. We found the place fine but there was almost absolutely no parking on that stree so we parked on a side street. By that point we were almost going to be late so we hurried up to the 7th floor. When I got there I had to fill out some papers and then we went in. The lady was super nice, she determined that my very first ultrasound was correct and I was actually 7 and a half weeks. I didn't think I was going to find out the gender but she told me anyway but she didn't tell my boyfriend. The ultrasound was so cool I loved it so much, the pictures I got were amazing.  I wasn't going to tell my boyfriend right away be...

Pregnancy Announcement #2 (Logan)

Image
So, when I was 16, a little over a year ago, October 16th to be exact I found out I was expecting Logan. My period was due to start the very beginning of October and it never started so on October 3rd I went to the nurse's office to take a test. The test was negative, which I thought was odd because my period is never late but at the same time i was on birth control so I figured I was just being paranoid. The nurse told me to just come back in a week if it hadn't started and test again, so I tried to not think about it.  Turns out I for ot about it for a couple weeks, so on October 16th I went back to the nurse's office first thing in the morning when I got to school and I tested again. The nurse did the test and then set it down and we talked for a minute. She asked me what I would do if it was positive, I said that I wasn't really sure and that I would have a lot of thinking to do to figure out how and if I could handle another so young and so soon. The nurse took ano...

Birthday Pancakes

Image
For my mom's birthday this morning I made her birthday pancakes. I found this idea on Pinterest a while back and thought I would try it. There were all kinds of recipes on Pinterest but here's how I made them. 1 1/4 cup of pancake mix (I used Aunt Jemima original ) 1 cup of milk 1 large egg A little bit of vanilla Sprinkles I mixed all the ingredients in a bowl and poured it in the frying pan to make pancakes. I made fairly large pan cakes, and then a few little ones for Chloe to have. When the pancakes were all done I put them on a plate, put some whipped cream on top and some more sprinkles. Here is what they looked like in the end (keep in mind this is the first time I have ever made pancakes so they don't look too pretty but the top one isn't that bad): They were really good, try making them some time! You will like them for sure! Chloe loved them too. Also my mom really liked her gifts and cards, Chloe, Logan and I gave them to her this morning. I will possibly pos...

Grandma's Birthday

Image
So tomorrow is my mom's birthday! For a while I was trying to figure out what to get my mom from her birthday from myself and from the kids. Especially where I'm on a budget right now. So first, here is what i got from the kids for Grandma:  In side I filled it full of adorable pictures of Logan, Chloe and the two of them together. When I saw it at the book store I thought it was so cute so I picked it up and this evening gy brother took me to go get the pictures for it printed out (which took way longer then expected because the Kodak printer thing wasn't working properly). I also got her this super cute card for her from the two of them. Here it is (it is the bottom two pictures): The top two pictures are of the card I got my mom for her birthday. I had to get it when I saw it, the words are just so true. I hope my mom loves it and knows that the card took the words right out of my mouth. He's what it says if you can't see the small writing on the card in the pict...

Craft Time!

Image
Here are a few crafts my daughter and I did today!  Here's how I made them:  Flowers- I made these three flowers out of an egg carton. I cut them part way down the sides, I used a knife but scissors would work fine as well. I bent each flap a little to open the flower up a little more and then i painted the inside of the flowers. Then I used yellow paint for the Center to finish it off. And there's hoe to make them! I'm going to make more and use them to make a little wreath or bouquet.  Jar of fireflies- To make this I found an outline of a jar online and printed and cut it out. Them I traced the jar onto a black piece of construction paper. I then used a coloured pencil to color the lid of the jar. My daughter made the fireflies using her finger in yellow paint. When they dried, which didn't take long I drew wings and a little trail behind them. Bat- The bat is also made out of egg cartons. I cut three egg sections and on the two outside pieces I cut out zig-zag patte...

Pregnancy Announcement #1 (Chloe)

Image
When I was 14, (in grade 9!) I found out I was expecting my first child. I took a test when I was a week late for my period because my cycle had always been extremely regular, so I just had a feeling. My boyfriend at the time a.k.a. Chloe's father got me a pregnancy test. When I took it the next morning (January 14th) nothing showed up, and by nothing I mean not even the control line! So I took it as a negative, put it in the back of my mind until a month later.  It was the day after Valentine's Day, my period was late yet again so I took another test and it was positive. I knew in the back of my mind that's what the results were going to be, I had a feeling I was pregnant. I didn't want to believe it was true, I was in denial that it was all happening. On February 28th I tested again for a third time and it was positive in seconds, that's really when it hit me.  I just broke down, still i refused to let it really sink in.  I continued to go about my life like ther...

Fave Pregnancy Apps

Image
Each of these apps I liked and used for different reasons while I was pregnant. All but two I used throughout both pregnancies. I downloaded and bought just about every pregnancy app there was and theses were my favorites. From top left to bottom right, here are the apps and what I liked about each of them 1. Pregnancy Journal Sprout - This app I used through out both pregnancies, it is one of my favorites because it is just a journal. It includes all kinds of questions about every aspect of pregnancy and newborn stage. There are pages where you can fill in your own response and questions where you can pick the statement that best applies to you and then you can also create your own pages to include even more in your journal. Also you can buy your journal in the end so you can keep it forever. I would definitely recommend this app to all mommies to be! 2. Ovia Pregnancy Tracker - This app I only used for my most recent pregnancy and not my first. Ovia has a period tracker which I was u...

Social Media Update

Image
So, in my very first post last November I mentioned my Instagram account but that has changed a little since then. My account I mentioned in my first post no longer exists  by that name, although that is now more of a personal account, but I recently (this morning actually) I created a new one. My user name is 17with2under2 feel free to follow me, I'm going to try and post lots! Also I have a YouTube account, my user name is Chloesmomma . So far I only have one video, and I made it probably 8 months ago or so but I would like to make more in the future. Check out my video, I'd love to hear some feedback especially before I make anymore videos.  In other news today, my family and I went to our cottage today. Chloe had loads of fun playing in the water and I think Logan had the best sleep he's ever had with the fresh air and all the noises.  -Chloe playing in her little pool and Logan enjoying his swing on the deck It was so nice out today, Chloe played in her pool most of ...

Dentist Trip

Image
Today was Chloe's very first trip to the dentist! She was super good, she said "ahhhh" of the dentist and everything. I figured she was going to scream or cry but she let the dentist count all her teeth and brush them a little. Next dentist trip in six months.   -Chloe waiting to see the dentist Chloe did so well today that I decided I would do a little something for her. I see all kinds of tooth fairy things on Pinterest about losing teeth but this was only her first dentist trip so I made up a little gift from the tooth fairy. Book about the dentist- I swore I still had this book from when I was little but I couldn't find it anywhere so while I was at the book store I picked a new one up, there were a few dentist books but I decided on this one. I really liked The Berenstain Bears when I was little, plus the books are pretty cheap! New tooth brush- it's a bubble guppies one, One of Chloe's favorite shows! I wouldn't have gotten her a new one but it was $...

Nothin' Special

Today Logan turned 10 months old! My little man is getting so big. Also a week ago was my 17th birthday. The countdown is on to Chloe's birthday and birthday party, exactly a month and a half! I plan on doing a post about the planning and all that, the theme is Teddy Bear Picnic. I can't wait she will be so excited, she loves teddy bears.  I've been trying to come up with lots of ideas for future posts and putting together and writing up a few things. I'm looking forward to posting very soon, my apologies that this post is nothing special, I've been fairly busy lately. I'm working on it though! :) The post I am most excited about to share soon is my birth story from both babies, first I just want to get papers from my doc so I can make the times in it as accurate as possible (mostly for myself to remember). Bare with me, my posts will get better eventually :P  I hope to have another post either tomorrow or the next day, not 100% sure what about yet because I hav...

Intro Take Two

Firstly, my name is Maddie (which is short for Madison) and I'm have lived in Atlantic Canada all my life. I have two wonderful little kids, my daughter; Chloe is almost 2 and my little boy will be three months the beginning of next months. And I just turned 17! I may be pretty darn young to have 2 under 2 but that doesn't affect my ability to be the best mommy I can be to my kiddos. I decided to write a second introduction because the first one i wrote when I created this blog which was almost a whole year ago. Lots has changed since then, that's for sure! Hopefully (fingers crossed) i can keep up with posting lots to my blog because I have all kinds of great ideas that I can wait to share! I love finding new, cool crafts and activities to do with the kids and love making lists for just about anything. Creating a blog has been on my to-do list for sometime now so I look forward to trying new things and writing all about my journey as a young mama so share with ya'll! S...
